Several counties in my state of Colorado have proposed that they would like to secede from the state to form a 51st state called North Colorado.
Some 50 people turned out for the first public meeting for support of the secession. Most of which said that they favored the proposal. Weld, Morgan, Logan, Sedgwick, Phillips, Washington, Yuma and Kit Carson counties would form the proposed state.
The reasoning for the proposed secession? Legislative crack downs on energy drilling and gun control. The public support for the proposal has been growing. However, the U.S. Constitution requires legislatures to approve any state to be created in its jurisdiction.
The two issues for the secession alone, I must say that I’m in favor of them. But seceding from the state is far too extreme for my tastes.
