The Wolverine, sequel to 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, topped the box office this week, taking in $55m. Although the showing was greatly disappointing from the original estimates of $70m, and didn’t come close to the predecessor’s $85m, the film did rake in $86m oversees, making the total of $141m gross in its first week.
The Conjuring came in second place, bringing in $21.1m. Third place went to Despicable Me 2 with $16m. Turbo brought home $13.3m for fourth place. And the sequel to 2010’s Grown Ups came in fifth place, bringing in $11.5m.
